Week Three Comments

Well here goes, here is my reflection about the week that was. This week we had a little more interaction with the rest of the group, Susan, Sandra, Hilary and Deb didn't we Kerry. There were interesting topics - Culture, Abbreviations Emoticons. John stirred us all up with his dry wit and humor.

I can say that in reflection, culture can take on a new dimension when on line. What we think a person is, can be absolutely incorrect. Why make asumptions about the persons gender, age, race? I have fallen into this trap with a past member Shan (of course by signing off in the feminine) I was led to believe Shan was a female but no... a male. How silly of me.

I enjoyed the banter from the two left handed donkeys smoking cigars (yes really it was a cigar officer) As if we need to know the 2,000 keyboard icons to make a meaningful connection. How about the old fashioned way of saying, hey that turned me on or cut the sh.t out!.

I got the distinct impression that Hilary was shouting and setting very brassed off when all her text was in caps.
John is right when he said that we need to write with emotion or use passion in our correspondance. How else can a cybercommunity start to gel?
I use the yellow smileys in my emails at work but not on line, perhaps I should.
